Toodana
Grandson of a traditional cameroonian chief, Atna Njock Zekuhl is knowledge bearer of the tradition of the language of tones – an ancestral wisdom of communication by rythmic codes in which each phrase connects and aligns energies, frequencies and electromagnetic vibrations. This knowledge has been used since time immemorial to send coded messages, guide social rituals, festive and therapeutic sessions that enhance wellbeing, healing and balance. Multi-instrumentalist, guitarist and singer, specialist in ancestral sound therapy and master player of Nkuu drum (african telephone), he is initiated into the musical traditions of many african ethnic groups including that of his Bàsàa tribe and the Baka (pygmies) of Cameroon. This heritage was enriched with the language of pop, classical, jazz and contemporary music from across the world.
Atna Njock Zekuhl has been one of the pillars of the musical african scene in Quebec since the 90s and he reaffirms today his distinct and innovative style of African music by offering a universe of world jazz Bantu / Baka (pygmies), indigenous and contemporary music. He offers a performance which carries us beyond borders, with songs in onomatopoeia, Bàsàa or French.
He shares with us rhythmic, poetic and harmonious compositions to dance on, based on the ancestral wisdom of the language of tones which carry messages on consciousness awakening, interculturality and connection.
Vibrante Afrique evening is presented by TV5.
