Born in Niger, Boubé grew up in the village of Iferouane (on the edge of the Ténéré desert) which hosts the most important Tuareg music festival. It is in the hypnotizing atmosphere of this village, nestled at the foot of the Tamgak mountains and surrounded by herds of ostriches and camels that Boubé learned music. He sings and plays several instruments typical of Tuareg music, known internationally as “desert blues” and sung by the Berber nomads of the central Sahara. A self-taught musician, he already went on tour at the age of 13 with different groups in Africa.
Then, in 2012-2013, he played with Bombino as a percussionist and drummer. (Algeria, Mali, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Nigeria, Libya, Morocco). In 2013-2014, it was with the Mdou Moctar group that Boubé continued his journey (England, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, France, Italy, Turkey, Canada, United States).
Boubé handles the guitar and drums wonderfully. He is a singer-songwriter and his first album is called Issaktan (2023).
His music speaks of peace, friendship and always inspires travel. His melodies are sometimes more meditative, sometimes more Rock. Some call him the “Jimmy Hendrix of the Sahara”. It’s up to you to discover Boubé’s musical universe!
